Ingo Fischer (born 1963) received his diploma degree in chemistry in 1989 from the University of Bonn and his Dr. rer. nat. in 1992 from the TU München under the guidance of Vladimir E. Bondybey and K. Müller-Dethlefs at the Institute of Physical Chemistry. From 1993 to 95 he worked as a Visiting Scientist in the femtosecond science program of the Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences in  Ottawa with Albert Stolow in the field of ultrafast spectroscopy. In 1995 he joined the  ETH Zürich   chemistry department , where he obtained his "Habilitation" in 1999. During this time he was associated with the group of Peter Chen . Since April 2001 he is a professor of physical chemistry at the Universität Würzburg . His research aims at an understanding of the photochemistry and chemical dynamics of reactive intermediates, like hydrocarbon radicals, hydrogen-bonded clusters, and biological molecules, as well as complex reactions in solution using laser spectroscopy and synchrotron radiation.
